Featured Creatures: Counter Attack - Jan 7-13

Counter Attack creatures are here!
This event has happened before. Actually when I joined the game this is what event was going on. There is a difference though with the addition of Pteranodon we get an extra 3 attemps. It was originally only 6 attempts and I went with all Rajasaurus because it was the only thing with a legendary to fuse into. Things have changed with buffs and nerfs as well as other creatures being hard to get DNA for out in the world and in the alliances. Here are some thoughts on each of the creatures.

Monday - Lythronax and Majungasaurus.

Lythronax wins. Everyone should only get Lythronax. We do have a fuse Purrolyth event going on right now where Lythronax are everywhere but that DNA only goes so far. If you're aiming for fusing all the way into the unique Gryopolyth it is going to take thousands of DNA to get there so stock up and keep requesting Purrusaurus Gen 2 in the alliance.

Majungasaurus is annoying. If you live in zone 1 it is the worst. At night time this is the only creature you see and it does not even fuse into a legendary or anything useful. You can even skip darting Majungasaurus and straight up find its fusion Majungasuchus in the wild as a regular rare.
For now no one wants Majungasaurus DNA. Some people say Majungasuchus at high levels can counter Indominus Rex but I just dont see it. There are way more efficient ways to do that with creatures that are still easy to get and the only true counter to Indominus Rex are Alanqa and its fusion.
For new players just starting out, you can dart any of these commons because 24 attempts is very high and if you're not going out much anyways well getting any that you encounter won't even be close to reaching the 24 limit.

Wednesday / Thursday / Friday -
Carnotaurus / Majundasuchus / Megalosaurus / Dsungaripterus /Tupandactylus

We have some extremely good creatures here and plenty to talk about.

Majundasuchus is trash. I really want this dino to be good because when you open its summary page it has a ridiculous amount of attacks it and use and TWO!! abilities. None of it is good enough and it is not going to live long enough to use more than one of those different attacks. All these counter attackers fill the same purposes but are a lot stronger.

Carnotaurus This thing is a hidden gem. As a redditor pointed out here Carnotaurus might have its entire moveset changed and it looks like it is getting a move that is completely new to the game! In case this does happen, stock up! For now Carnotaurus has the really good move Cleansing Impact. Most counter attackers are destroyed by Suchotator and Spinotasuchus but here you are as good as having immunity if you can remove a wound and deal a huge 1.5 damage and your counter attack on top of that.

Megalosaurus I am not a fan of. It has the standard moveset of counter attackers. The attack boost, shield and pinning strike. There is nothing original here or even armor or critical to set it apart.
This thing is highly wanted in all alliances however as an important ingredient in fusing the powerful Megalosuchus. Use it as trade currency for things you really want.

Dsungaripterus is hard to remember how to spell it. There are rumors of this getting a fusion in the next update. Right now this DNA is actually really rare. It is not available in the wild. Available only through special incubators or from the green supply drop events. If it does get a new fusion it will have more spotlight on it and you can get them easy at that time. If you're a believer you're going to have a lot of DNA and a high level fusion to show off on day one.
This creature tries to be a fast counter attacker but it just isnt fast enough and has damage points lower than everything else. It will only get one attack in and then die. Hopefully the fusion can pull off a more successful moveset of a fast counter attacker. For now tragodistis is an extremely fast option with counter attack and can still throw a rampage for massive damage.

Tupandactylus for the second week in a row. I see many of these regularly at night time and it has been featured in this current week already as well as increased spawns to promote its fusion. In battle this thing is just not good.  The fusion is ok for taking out single stage gold strike events but even a level 1 Dimorphodon is usually enough that is needed.
Tupandactylus is not the worst creature to go after this week but the fusion will have to be seriously over leveled to survive ONE hit in a real battle.

Tough decisions on which rare to get this week. I am going for Carnotaurus and hoping that new move is really powerful.

Saturday - Concavenator / Rajasaurus / Pteranodon

Epics! The rarest are always exciting.

Pteranodon again. This is boring and fragile and weak. Use a raptor for massive damage instead.
There is no reason to get Pteranodon.

Rajasaurus this week's epic with a fusion. This is an upgrade of all the previous rare counter attackers. The shields last a lot longer here. Naturally this has 20 critical while all the others only have 5.
What's really tempting here is Extended Critical Strike boosting the critical number to 80! That almost guarantees a critical every turn. Rajasaurus' HP is not very high. You're supposed to set up a shield and somehow have critical active. It is possible to do if you send this out when your opponent has cooldown on all their strongest moves.
It is not a bad decision to focus on Rajasaurus this week to build up DNA for the fusion of Rajakylosaurus. It is an easy fusion to make and a big upgrade by just having built in armor. Eventually you can take this little Rajasaurus all the way up to the highest arenas when you fuse to Diorajasaur!

Concavenator this one is exciting.
800s, 900s are the typical damage power of the counter attackers. Here you have 1050!
The attack set is similar to everything else but does not have to rely on boosting critical or attack power. It is not susceptible to nullifying! On turn one you want to use Defense Shattering Impact.
According to this video of the strongest damages possible on the first turn, Concavenator makes it in the top 10! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZQL1969IkI
Being that strong is a huge selling point.

In the mainsteam forums these are not epics anyone wants. I originally did my 6 attempts on Rajasaurus so that I could make my first legendary. This week I am getting only Concavenator and saving its DNA after level 15 for any future fusion it may get. Rajakylosaurus has not been in my team for a long time and I would rather use the hard to get Tuojiangosaurus DNA for Tuoromoloch as the recent Christmas event gave me a good headstart in making the unique.  Trykosaurus seems stronger than Diorajasaur right now and I'm going to save all my Ankylosaurus DNA towards that instead.
